Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
